A SanDisk Case Study
Ehime University Hospital in Tōon has been steadily digitizing medical records, images and legacy paper charts and expects data to grow to roughly 300 TB in five years. The hospital needed a storage and database solution that could deliver sub-second full-text and historical searches to support clinical decision-making and patient safety — a need made urgent by an incident where a prior anesthesia-related shock was only discoverable in paper records.
The hospital deployed SanDisk Fusion ioMemory ioDrive2 to accelerate database workloads, achieving dramatic speedups (a typical full-history query dropped from about 3 minutes to ~3 seconds, reported as ~60× improvement), high availability and a very low bit-error rate. The flash-first architecture enabled real-time processing of large data volumes, a smaller physical footprint and new capabilities for near-real-time BI and clinical-judgment support that help clinicians prevent medical errors.
