A SanDisk Case Study
Exym, a provider of web-based electronic health record and billing software for mental health clinics, was struggling with severe disk I/O contention on its multi-tenant SQL Server environment (30 separate agency databases). Nightly maintenance and billing jobs routinely blocked on transaction logging, turning processes that should take about 15 minutes per database into two-to-three-hour runs, so Exym engaged SQL Server consultant Michael K. Campbell to diagnose and resolve the problem.
Working with host BTInet, Michael replaced the server storage with a SanDisk Fusion ioMemory ioDrive (and upgraded the blade), eliminating the spindle-driven bottleneck. The change shortened nightly billing from about 3 hours to 10 minutes (an 18x improvement), sped queries ~7.5x, removed the need for planned performance upgrades, and was implemented non-disruptively.
