A SanDisk Case Study
CyberAgent’s Ameba platform, which runs the popular Metaverse game Ameba Pigg, needed a new database architecture to retain users and support rapid growth. The existing MySQL KVS on 96 custom servers was reaching performance limits and proving unreliable, while peak loads of up to 60,000 queries per second and rising traffic demanded better scalability and lower operating costs.
The team deployed SanDisk Fusion ioMemory (ioDrive) cards in a compact MySQL cluster of eight enterprise servers, replacing the 96-node custom farm. The new system delivered a 3.5x query-rate improvement (from ~10,000 to ~35,000 qps in tests), consolidated rack space by 2.25:1, reduced node count by 88, and provided stable, predictably linear scalability — supporting doubled site traffic with immediate ROI and OEM-supported reliability.
