A SanDisk Case Study
CompuGroup Medical (CGM) is a global eHealth provider serving roughly 400,000 healthcare professionals with clinical, billing and patient-access applications. Its IT team faced growing, diverse virtualized workloads (MS SQL Server, Oracle ERP, customer transactional and mobile appointment services) but hit limits on adding more PCIe devices and scaling their SAN-based fabric, creating a need for low-latency, high-density block storage that could support mixed read/write workloads across many sites.
CGM deployed SanDisk InfiniFlash systems integrated with DataCore software (striping across TB8 cards in a JBOF architecture) in Frankfurt and Koblenz. The change cut access latency from about 15–20 ms to 1 ms (≈15–20x faster), reduced power and cooling by roughly two-thirds, and significantly shrank data-center rack space per TB—delivering higher performance, lower operational cost and a smaller footprint while enabling broader rollout across other data centers.
