A SanDisk Case Study
Catho, the largest job-search site in Latin America and a market leader in Brazil, was struggling with MySQL replication lag and I/O bottlenecks as traffic grew (millions of monthly visitors and thousands of daily sign‑ins). The performance issues forced the team to spread load across many read replicas, creating latency, risk of stale reads, and high operational overhead as the environment grew to 14 servers.
Catho ran a proof of concept with SanDisk Fusion ioMemory PCIe cards, replacing traditional hard drives and tuning MySQL and the file system. The new configuration dramatically reduced infrastructure needs and improved performance: the cluster that had required 14 servers was consolidated to four (one server could handle the previous cluster traffic), average queries per second reached about 3,000, and query response times improved up to 77% (about 30% faster on slow‑log queries), cutting data‑center footprint and simplifying operations.
