Athena Systems' Aura is a leading SaaS portfolio and analytics platform for hedge funds and asset managers. As trading volumes, allocations and compute‑intensive analytics rose, customers demanded much lower latency and higher I/O performance than traditional HDD‑backed infrastructure could provide.

Athena deployed SanDisk Lightning SAS SSDs (optimizing server images, file partitioning and query caching) across four data centers and two client sites over about three months, choosing SanDisk for its caching features, power‑loss protection and strong performance-per-dollar. The upgrade delivered predictable, sustained I/O and cut request-to-display latency from roughly 15–20 seconds to about two seconds, dramatically improving real‑time analytics and client service.
