J W Filshill, a Glasgow-based delivered wholesaler and cash-and-carry with revenues over £170 million and more than 1,600 customers, needed to boost warehouse efficiency, accuracy and resilience as it scaled operations. The company has been a long-term user of Sanderson’s Swords system (including the Swords RF module) and worked with Sanderson to modernize picking, stock control and delivery planning to meet growing customer and operational demands.

Sanderson implemented Swords voice-directed picking (speech recognition with wireless headsets), integrated Swords with third‑party routing (Optrak), upgraded servers for resilience and added business intelligence and online-ordering links. The voice solution cut pick times by up to 30% for some products, helped raise the hourly pick target from 110 to 180 (a 64% improvement), reduced handling damage (estimated £10 saved per error) and is expected to deliver ROI within the first year—potentially saving J W Filshill up to £250,000 per year.
