SK Telecom, headquartered in SK T‑Tower, faced rapidly growing WLAN traffic and a BYOD-driven need for seamless, secure wireless access across its 30-floor headquarters and roughly 2,000 employees. To support laptops, smartphones and tablets everywhere from meeting rooms to lounges, SK Telecom engaged Samsung to deliver an office-oriented WLAN infrastructure, deploying Samsung’s WEA403i security APs along with WEC8500 controllers and the WEM management system.

Samsung implemented gigabit‑speed WEA403i APs (802.11ac) with built‑in WIPS sensors, four WEC8500 controllers for three‑step backup and WEM for centralized monitoring; the deployment delivered 4–10× better WLAN performance, broader coverage via Intelligent Beam Selectable Antenna and fair airtime via Traffic Scheduling. Samsung’s security APs detect unauthorized devices in 10 seconds and block them in 30 seconds, cut WLAN/WIPS TCO by more than 30% versus standalone WIPS, and provide resilient, high‑performance wireless service across the building.
