Savage deploys Samsung tablets across 900 vehicles to stay ELD-compliant and cut data overages

Savage, a major salt lake city-based transportation and industrial services firm, needed to achieve compliance with federal electronic logging device (ELD) mandates across its fleet of approximately 900 vehicles. Their challenge was to implement this in-cab technology without overburdening drivers or IT, while also improving overall fleet operations, safety, and controlling data costs. They partnered with Samsung for a solution.

Samsung implemented its Galaxy Tab E tablets managed by the Samsung Knox Manage enterprise mobility platform. This solution provided Savage with remote, end-to-end control over the devices, allowing them to lock down usage to business-only applications and prevent data overages. The results included full ELD compliance, a simplified and reliable in-cab technology footprint with durable tablets, and no increase in IT staffing. Savage also gained significant cost savings compared to their previous system and newfound flexibility to deploy and manage applications remotely across diverse workgroups.
