Samsung Zero Clients Unlock Efficiencies for Physicians and Accelerate Electronic Health Record Adoption

Olympic Medical Center (OMC), a public hospital district in Port Angeles, Wash., was working to accelerate physician adoption of electronic health records but found its tablet-based VMware View deployment couldn’t reliably support key productivity tools like Dragon NaturallySpeaking. That poor integration led to inefficient workflows, lost productivity and higher transcription costs, prompting OMC to evaluate alternative virtualization endpoints such as Samsung Zero Client displays (NC240).

Samsung implemented its VMware-certified NC240 Zero Client displays, moving processing into the datacenter so physicians could use dictation and other apps seamlessly, securely and from any zero-client. The Samsung solution cut chart‑completion and dictation time by more than 30 minutes per physician per day (per Dr. Rebecca Corley), reduced transcription, power and IT maintenance costs, delivered an estimated 5:1 cost advantage over thick‑client/mobile approaches, and drove plans for a large-scale Samsung deployment across all OMC locations.
