A Samsung Case Study
The ITU Plenipotentiary Conference, a top-level International Telecommunication Union meeting attended by about 3,000 participants from 193 countries, required a secure, high-capacity wireless network to run its first paperless event where thousands would simultaneously download minutes and use personal devices. Samsung was chosen as Korea’s official infrastructure supplier and deployed its Samsung WLAN solution (WEA303i APs, WEC8500 controller, WEM manager and iES-4224GP PoE switches) to meet this challenge.
Samsung implemented a dense, floor-mounted cell design with hundreds of APs, a central controller, and built‑in WIPS security sensors, plus features like Air Equalizer and IBSA to support roughly 520 device types and ultra‑dense usage. The Samsung WLAN demonstrated seamless high‑speed performance under heavy load (handling hundreds to thousands of simultaneous connections), detected intrusions within 10 seconds and blocked them within 30 seconds, enabled the conference to go paperless, and reduced operating and equipment costs by eliminating separate security sensors and paper distribution.
