Preview of the Rugby World Cup Case Study

Samsung Wi-Fi powers the world’s most prestigious rugby event

The Rugby World Cup needed to attract fans back to live venues by delivering a dependable, fast and secure Wi‑Fi experience across 14 official fan zones (each hosting 5,000–20,000 visitors). To achieve this, organizers partnered with Horizon Communications Technologies using Samsung Wi‑Fi equipment, including Samsung WEA403E, WEA412I and WEA453E access points and Samsung WEC8050 WLAN controllers, to overcome venue variability and large transient crowds.

Horizon installed about 140 Samsung access points and two Samsung WEC8050 controllers, doing extensive field engineering under tight timelines and challenging conditions. The Samsung-powered network supported more than 92,000 devices logging in for match content, promotions and mobile transactions, delivering the reliable, high‑capacity connectivity the Rugby World Cup required and setting a new standard for large traveling sports events.
