Samsung Video Wall Displays Help Bring Tugboat Simulation Center to Life

The State University of New York Maritime College needed the nation’s only dedicated tugboat-and-barge simulation center that could recreate a lifelike 360-degree bridge view, including severe weather and busy-port conditions. To meet that challenge, SUNY Maritime selected Samsung ultra-narrow bezel LED video wall displays—including 55-inch UD Series panels and 65-inch Smart Signage—to form the virtual windows for the simulator.

Samsung supplied nearly 40 displays, engineered into a seamless 270-degree arc on the bow with additional stern screens to deliver a full 360-degree, near‑UHD visual environment when daisy‑chained, integrated with Kongsberg Sea View software and quadraphonic audio. The Samsung-powered solution gives students and professional mariners realistic, repeatable training for any location or weather scenario, creates one of the most realistic tug-and-barge simulators in the world, and delivers near‑real experiences at a fraction of the cost, earning enthusiastic praise from industry captains.
