Samsung Technology Helps Create Engaging Retail Experience for New Generation of Kids

Build-A-Bear Workshop, the global experiential retailer where children create personalized stuffed animals, wanted to modernize its in-store experience for a generation raised on smartphones while preserving the hands-on heart of its brand. To achieve this, Build-A-Bear partnered with Samsung, deploying Samsung SUR40 tables with Microsoft PixelSense, Series 7 Slate PCs and wall-mounted touch displays to create interactive, touch-, object- and gesture-enabled stations throughout a newly imagined store.

Samsung’s technology powered immersive stations (like “Love Me,” “Fluff Me” and the interactive storefront) that personalize the eight-step bear-making journey and encourage repeat visits. The pilot stores saw higher traffic and transactions, roughly a 30% increase in sales, improved guest satisfaction scores, and—based on these results—Build-A-Bear plans to roll the interactive design out to 40–50 more locations.
