Samsung Galaxy Tab Scores Straight A’s For Campus Mobile Computing Program

Winona State University, a public university with more than 8,500 students, wanted to expand its long-running e-Warrior program by adding a compact, lightweight and affordable tablet that met IT security/support requirements and could run productivity apps for coursework. To meet those needs WSU evaluated options and selected Samsung, choosing a mix of Samsung Galaxy Tabs (deployed with Microsoft Office 365 and managed via AirWatch MDM) as the tablet complement to student laptops.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab deployment gave students an ultra‑portable device for note‑taking, e‑reading, fieldwork and collaboration while preserving campus security and support standards; tablets were preloaded with Office 365 and connected to OneDrive for Business. As a result, WSU—one of the few Midwest schools with a dual‑device student computing program—saw students adopt the tablets across campus and reported measurable improvements in overall student engagement, interest and collaboration after implementing Samsung’s solution.
