Samsung Digital Signage Helps Create the Cinema Lobby of the Future

Starplex Cinemas, a chain operating 31 theaters with 326 screens, set out to reinvent its Ridgefield Park, NJ location as a $5 million flagship luxury cinema and needed lobby technology to engage patrons and drive ticket and concession sales. To achieve that, Starplex worked with Samsung to deploy commercial digital signage and displays as part of a broader visualization design—bringing a high-tech, immersive lobby experience to complement 100% digital projection and luxury seating.

Working with Barco and powered by Samsung, the theater installed more than 50 Samsung large-format displays (including ME‑C and UD‑C series units), a 16‑foot screen, large video walls, portrait digital posters and dynamic menu boards with QR-enabled promotions. The Samsung-driven solution boosted engagement and revenue: concession per-customer at Ridgefield Park is among the chain’s highest, replacing cardboard posters cut costs, and Starplex’s locations with Samsung digital menu boards saw an average sales lift of $0.20–$0.25 per patron while enabling easier future ticket sales and stronger in-lobby upsells.
