A Samsung Case Study
USMD Practice Management, a physician-led integrated health system serving the DFW metroplex, faced fragmented phone systems at each affiliated clinic that made support costly, time-consuming, and hard to scale. To centralize management and support rapid growth, USMD Practice Management chose Samsung and its Samsung Communication Manager (SCM) platform, along with iBG Series Gateways and SMT-i5210/SMT-i5243 IP phones.
Samsung deployed the SCM S500 SIP-based IP-PBX in a datacenter connected by MPLS, added iBG gateways with PRI at remote sites, installed SMT IP phones, and configured active-standby redundancy and embedded Unified Messaging. The Samsung solution centralized administration, reduced hardware/software/management costs, streamlined operations, and improved staff responsiveness and collaboration; it supports up to 3,000 users and 1,000 concurrent calls and delivered integrated voicemail and auto-attendant functionality for measurable efficiency gains at USMD Practice Management.
