A Samsung Case Study
Paradise Valley Unified School District, a large Arizona district serving roughly 34,000 students across 45 sites, needed to modernize an aging computer fleet after receiving a $40.1 million technology allocation. To move toward a 1:1 computing environment and support upcoming online assessments, the district decentralized device procurement so individual schools could choose their preferred technology; many opted for Samsung Chromebooks, Chromeboxes and GALAXY Note tablets.
Samsung supplied cloud‑based Chromebooks and Chromeboxes plus Android tablets (including the GALAXY Note 10.1), enabling a fast, cost‑effective rollout of about 4,000 devices in 2012/13 with plans to grow to roughly 14,000 within 18 months. The Samsung deployment has modernized classrooms, improved teaching practices, prepared PV Schools for PARCC online testing, and moved the district from older 2:1 student‑to‑device ratios toward a projected 1:1 goal over the bond period.
