Compact, Reliable In-Store Printing Solution Enables Kindred Hearts to Tap Retail Demand for Instantly Personalized Gifts

Kindred Hearts, a family-owned maker of inspirational gift items, wanted to expand from wholesale into retail by offering instant in-store personalization on high-quality vellum. The company needed compact, easy-to-use, and durable laser printers for clerks with limited technical experience — and standardized on Samsung’s ML-3712ND to meet those requirements.

Samsung’s ML-3712ND delivered a fast, reliable solution with a small footprint, quick first-page output (6.5 seconds), and the durability to handle thousands of vellum prints without smearing or jams. The result: a 90% sell-through in the first 15 Hallmark stores, rapid expansion to about 650 retail locations, strong up-selling (stores report 40–60 personalized items/month in slow periods and roughly 1,000 items sold on Mother’s Day), and plans to move to Samsung’s Wi‑Fi–capable M3820DW and MobilePrint for tablet-based ordering.
