Aledo Schools Builds Next Generation School With Samsung Cloud Displays

Aledo Independent School District, about 50 miles west of Dallas with roughly 4,700 students, needed to equip a new 9th‑grade school with over 400 end‑clients despite a 20% operating budget cut. Facing limits on space, support staff and energy costs, Aledo turned to Samsung and its SyncMaster Cloud displays (Model NC190) paired with a VMware View VDI platform to avoid the expense and labor of traditional PC deployments.

Samsung deployed 400 SyncMaster Cloud displays connected to VMware View (hosted on Cisco UCS servers and EMC storage), enabling 5‑minute plug‑and‑play installs instead of 90‑minute PC setups, centralized management with five master images, and session‑based security. The Samsung solution reduced electricity use by about 60% (each display uses <40W vs ~200W for a PC), cut support calls and maintenance, improved uptime, and positioned Aledo to move up to 90% of end‑clients to thin clients over the next five years.
