Renewal Funds Focuses on Outcomes and Real Impact with SAMETRICA

Renewal Funds, a mission venture capital fund focused on accelerating the transition to a sustainable economy, needed a better way to measure the impact of its portfolio companies on food, water, and climate. After GIIRS was wound down, the firm was looking for a more accurate and efficient approach to impact measurement and management, and to reduce the manual effort of collecting, aggregating, and mapping data from portfolio companies. Renewal Funds turned to SAMETRICA for support.

SAMETRICA implemented a platform that mapped data from forms, surveys, and factors to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and its own impact framework, enabling automated analysis and real-time reporting. The solution helped Renewal Funds track 18 portfolio companies, measure 52 outcome indicators, and eliminate spreadsheet work, while cutting data collection to about 20 minutes per portfolio company. With SAMETRICA, Renewal Funds can now report on outcomes such as carbon emissions reduced, water saved, improved soil health, and diversity in leadership teams.
