Walmart partnered with Sama to improve site search relevance for its online store, serving 385 million visitors. The challenge was scaling high-quality product labeling across a massive and growing catalog, including validating images, descriptions, and multiple attributes per SKU to speed product discovery and reduce bounce rates.
Sama assembled product attribute experts and delivered accurate computer vision annotations through its labeling workflow, helping Walmart improve product descriptions, images, and categorization. By 2019, Sama had covered more than 2.5 million items and increased Walmart’s retail item coverage from 91% to 98%, contributing to better search results, improved user experience, and stronger conversion potential.
