When Coding Meets Art!

Lake Oswego School District in Oregon, serving K-5 students, was looking for an engaging way to bring STEAM learning to life in the classroom. With SAM Labs’ STEAM Solution and Maker Kit, teachers Kiki Hueneke, Nickie Doran, and Catherine Melton used coding and hands-on materials to make science and STEM projects more creative and interactive.

SAM Labs provided guided curriculum and easy-to-use coding software that helped students build projects like spinning carnival rides and animated owls with moving heads and blinking eyes. The result was high student engagement and a strong introduction to coding, with teachers noting that SAM Labs made it easy and helped create sensory, story-based learning experiences; however, no specific quantitative impact was reported.
