Designing Real-World Creations and Inspiring STEAM Superstars!

Radio Park Elementary School, working with SAM Labs and its STEAM Solution + Maker Kit, needed an engaging way to teach K-5 STEM across a mixed remote-and in-person classroom. Teacher Kristen Albright wanted hands-on activities that would let students collaborate, stay engaged, and apply computational thinking to real-world projects.

SAM Labs provided ready-to-use lesson plans and hardware blocks that students used to build creations like night lights and a shoebox escape room. The result was stronger student engagement, less behavioral management for the teacher, increased confidence for a previously disengaged student, and more independent problem solving as students came in with ideas developed outside class.
