Princeton University retrofits 3,200+ doors with Salto

Princeton University faced the security challenge of replacing old brass locks on over 3,200 dormitory doors across its campus. The university required a reliable, modern locking system and conducted an extensive 14-month evaluation process. They selected Salto Systems to provide a state-of-the-art electronic access control solution.

Salto implemented its proprietary electronic lock software and standalone A9 660 wireless locksets, using HID iClass cards (named TIGER Cards by Princeton). The solution provided enhanced security through dual authentication (card plus PIN), immediate permission changes for lost credentials, and a central database for access tracking. The results included heightened student protection, elimination of physical key replacement costs, and more efficient use of security staff time, as everything is managed digitally. Salto's technology gave the university a forward-thinking, secure access control system.
