Northern Trust, a Chicago-based financial services company, partnered with Space Matrix Design Consultants to design a new office while dealing with common workplace planning challenges such as lost design data, complicated communication flows, and delayed decisions. To address this, they used Saltmine’s Strategy, Design, and Budget modules to bring planning information and stakeholders into one collaborative environment.

With Saltmine, Northern Trust and Space Matrix were able to share project data in the cloud, compare design options in real time, and visualize tradeoffs through alternate tagging and 3D walkthroughs. This improved communication and helped them reach decisions faster, cutting the concept design phase from 38 days to 22 days and saving more than 40% of the timing in that phase.
