Case Study: OROPAY (Cypriot EMI) achieves PSD2 compliance and new open-banking payment options with Salt Edge (open banking solutions provider)

A Salt Edge Case Study

Preview of the OROPAY Case Study

OROPAY’s clients to enjoy new payment options with Salt Edge

OROPAY, a Cypriot electronic money institution regulated by the Central Bank of Cyprus, needed to become PSD2 compliant as it expanded into the EU/EEA and to give its business and personal eMoney customers safer, more convenient cross-border payment options. To meet this challenge it partnered with Salt Edge, using Salt Edge’s open banking and PSD2 compliance APIs to enable secure third-party connections and payment initiation from OROPAY eWallet accounts.

Salt Edge implemented an open banking solution that integrated PSD2-compliant APIs into OROPAY’s ecosystem, allowing customers to connect their eWallets to third‑party apps, view transactions, and initiate payments directly from those apps. As a result, OROPAY is fully PSD2 compliant, has launched new value‑added services built on those APIs, streamlined business client workflows and cross‑border payments, and improved the customer payment experience (including OROPAY’s fast, mobile-first checkout of send/receive payments in fewer clicks).
