University Health System - Customer Case Study

University Health System, the Bexar County–owned teaching hospital and a 23-location health system in San Antonio, faced aging, hard-to-integrate analog security technology across a campus with more than 1,400 cameras and millions of square feet. Needing a user-friendly, scalable solution to transition from analog to IP without excessive upkeep or encoder/license costs, the health system engaged integrator Walker Engineering and selected Salient Systems’ CompleteView VMS as the front-end video management platform.

Salient Systems deployed CompleteView’s hybrid VMS—integrated with Software House CCURE 9000 access control, a Cinemassive video wall and Dynamic Resolution Scaling—allowing the campus to mix analog and IP cameras (including 600 new Axis cameras and 800 HID readers ordered by the integrator) while converting analog ports to IP licenses as upgrades occur. The solution delivered real-time, aggregated views for 24/7 command-and-control teams, faster call-up of high-quality remote video, improved situational awareness and lower total cost of ownership through reduced encoder and licensing expense.
