Provena Covenant Medical Center faced a major video-surveillance failure when an older DVR crashed and wiped about a terabyte of footage—up to 45 days of recordings from 16–32 cameras—leaving long hospital corridors and critical areas without reliable recorded coverage. To modernize during a maternal unit remodel, the hospital worked with integrator Midwest Integrated Solutions and deployed Salient Systems technology to move away from a single-DVR dependency and support a hybrid analog/IP strategy.

The solution centered on Salient Systems’ CompleteView Video Management System combined with 3Ware RAID storage and four AXIS P3343 IP cameras, enabling time/date recall, simultaneous live viewing and playback, and three-minute segmented storage for easier clip retrieval. As a result, Provena Covenant Medical Center gained higher image quality and the ability to follow individuals down long hallways, improved review efficiency, and reduced the risk of losing large blocks of footage—while preserving a cost-effective path to future full IP migration.
