A Cannabis Operation Finds the Right Solution to Meet the Stringent Regulatory Demands of Its Industry

Constellation Cannabis, a 42,000-square-foot facility with 30,000 square feet of grow space in Washington state, faced strict regulatory requirements that prevented it from growing or generating revenue until fully compliant. Regulations required a comprehensive, modular video surveillance design covering every stage "seed to sale" with about 100 cameras, continuous visibility of an employee’s head, hands and feet during plant interactions, footage retained for at least 45 days, and quarantine visibility for plant waste for 72 hours. To meet these demands Constellation engaged Salient Systems and evaluated the Salient server/system for scalability and compliance.

Salient Systems delivered a modular Salient server-based solution, helping Constellation scale from an initial 80-camera plan to the required 100 cameras, obtain necessary licenses, and meet the phase-one footprint. Salient’s regional manager and team assisted in sourcing a new integrator, lent engineering time to get the system operational, and helped Constellation pass camera inspections—enabling the facility to activate its cannabis license and begin production. The implementation met the 45-day retention and 72-hour quarantine visibility requirements and positioned Constellation to continue scaling with Salient through subsequent build phases.
