A Salient Process Case Study
The PNC Financial Services Group Inc., a large U.S. financial services firm, needed a more flexible business rules solution after finding that many of its policies were hardcoded into Java and Microsoft .NET programs. This made the rules difficult to change and slowed the bank’s ability to support multiple lines of business and lending operations. Vendor Salient Process provided the requested case study context, with the actual solution built around IBM Business Process Manager and IBM Operational Decision Manager.
Salient Process’s solution helped PNC automate more than 50 business processes and put over five million business rules into production. The bank reduced manual review of loan applications by 80–90%, cutting post-closing loan reviews from 100% to only 10–20% of loans with exceptions, while also improving compliance reporting and handling acquisition-driven workload growth without adding staff.
