One of the Largest Energy Company in the U.S. worked with Salient Process to address a labor-intensive power restoration status check process. Technicians were manually verifying outages and confirming whether power had already been restored, which created unnecessary labor costs and slowed response efforts. Salient Process used IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM) to help automate and streamline this outage verification workflow.
Salient Process implemented event correlation and business rules automation to identify and filter outages, determine whether they were real, and route them for the right next action. The result was a large reduction in manual technician labor, faster outage handling, and fewer duplicate assignments to field crews. The utility also gained the ability for business users to update rules without IT involvement, improving flexibility and long-term operational efficiency.
