SunMed - Customer Case Study

SunMed, an FDA-registered manufacturer and distributor of medical devices based in Grand Rapids, grew through acquisitions of Ventlab and Ethox Medical, but inherited multiple workflows and ERP environments that needed to be consolidated. The company also faced complex requirements for EDI, labeling, lot control, and FDA Unique Device Identification (UDI) compliance across manufacturing, warehouse, and distribution operations. SalesPad Desktop, along with DataCollection and ShipTo, was used to help unify and simplify these processes.

SalesPad implemented a hosted Dynamics GP environment and quickly rolled it out across SunMed, including Ventlab and Ethox Medical, with on-site support. The solution centralized UDFs for EDI and labeling, improved lot masking and warehouse traceability, enabled real-time manufacturing transactions on handhelds, and streamlined pricing and order entry. As a result, SunMed cut reporting delays and errors, handled 90% of orders via EDI without manual touch, and said customer service efficiency improved enough that it likely needed only about one-third of the reps it otherwise would have required.
