A Salesforce for Nonprofits Case Study
The University of Miami, a private research university of more than 15,000 students, needed to compete for top applicants but was hampered by a 20-year-old mainframe that required batch processing, provided no web services or real-time data, and left recruiting data siloed across schools. That lack of agility and consistent communication risked losing prospective students to other institutions.
The university deployed Sales Cloud and Force.com across 11 schools to capture and track prospect interactions—using iPad forms to log campus visitors into a "campus tour" campaign and build recruiting profiles. This enabled targeted, personalized 1:1 communications, real-time campaign measurement and adjustments, and improved analytics from inquiry through admission; the success has prompted broader campus interest in using Salesforce as a platform for a more connected university.
