A Salesforce for Nonprofits Case Study
The University of California, Irvine (UCI) sought to modernize its Advancement and Alumni Relations after years of aging technology and a patchwork of point solutions that prevented a unified view of alumni, donors, parents and volunteers. With advancement staff spread across 23 schools and separate systems—most notably isolated patient lead data from UCI Health—UCI aimed for a total transformation of technology, processes, and culture to enable 21st-century fundraising.
UCI selected Salesforce Education Cloud (Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Community Cloud, Einstein Analytics, MuleSoft and AppExchange partners) to create an integrated advancement platform. The new system delivers a 360° view of constituents, brings Grateful Patient data in daily, automates event registration and engagement emails, and cut gift processing from weeks to days (2,500 Giving Day gifts loaded in a day). Adoption exceeded 80% and the platform kept Advancement operations running smoothly through COVID-19.
