Student Conservation Association (SCA) is America’s conservation corps, engaging college and high school students in hands-on conservation service across all 50 states. Before moving to Salesforce, SCA was constrained by an inflexible, costly proprietary CRM that was difficult to use and couldn’t keep pace with rapid, double-digit growth, impeding its application, matching, and placement workflows.
SCA migrated roughly 70,000 student applicants and 60,000 partners to a Salesforce environment using NGO Connect, Sales Cloud, and App Cloud, enabling online search and applications, preference and reference submission, partner position management, and e-signatures via the AppExchange. The solution automates medical risk calculations (30% of forms auto-cleared, 70% auto-scored for routing), consolidates recruiting and helpdesk, improves visibility with dashboards and reporting for funders, and has boosted productivity of key processes by an estimated 10–25%.
