SolarAid is a charity that aims to eradicate kerosene lamps in Africa by replacing them with affordable solar lights, while running fundraising operations in the UK and sales/distribution (Sunny Money) across Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia. The organisation needed a way to connect dispersed teams, track donors and sales, manage stock and orders, and get fast, consistent reporting to scale fundraising and distribution efficiently.

Using Sales Cloud, App Cloud, Chatter and the Salesforce1 Mobile App, SolarAid unified donor and sales data, gave staff real‑time dashboards and mobile access, and improved team collaboration and reporting. The results: donations doubled in one year, the charity was already a third of the way to a 40% growth target within a month, reporting and decision‑making became faster and leaner, and SolarAid moved toward selling one million lamps and building a “speed of light” map to show donors where funded lamps are distributed.
