Self Help Africa unites global teams in the fight against hunger and poverty with Salesforce

Self Help Africa is an international development charity working across nine African countries to help communities escape hunger and poverty through long-term agricultural, nutrition and livelihoods programmes. The organisation faced the challenge of coordinating hundreds of field workers and multiple offices, consolidating disparate data and processes, and proving programme impact to donors while maximising fundraising effectiveness.

Using Salesforce (NPSP, Community Cloud and App Cloud) Self Help Africa created a single source of truth for programmes, donors and beneficiaries, streamlined fundraising and campaigning to 30,000 supporters, and built a self-service grants portal for schools. The platform improved programme monitoring (e.g., reduced child stunting in a Zambia project from 40% to 31% and severe stunting from 21% to 11%), boosted operational efficiency and helped grow revenue from €7M to €20M annually, with a target of €40M by 2023.
