A Salesforce for Nonprofits Case Study
Dallas College, a seven-college district serving predominantly underserved students in Dallas County, faced a steep challenge: one in four residents lives in poverty and fewer than 10% of economically disadvantaged 8th-graders complete a college degree. To expand access and build inclusive pathways, the college launched the Dallas County Promise to guarantee free tuition and assign success coaches, but needed a platform to coordinate high schools, universities, employers and community partners at scale.
Using Salesforce.org Education Cloud (HEDA, Marketing Cloud, Community Cloud and the Salesforce Platform), Dallas College built the Promise platform in seven weeks, automated personalized communication journeys for thousands of students, and created the Greenlight blockchain credential ledger to speed verification and transfer to four‑year partners like UNT Dallas. The initiative enrolled 9,300 seniors in 31 high schools this year, with 2,841 (more than 40%) matriculating at Dallas College—nearly 1,000 more students from those schools than in 2017—while giving counselors and partners real‑time visibility into student progress.
