Pro Bono Volunteers Help Girls Who Code Set Up Salesforce to Manage their National Programs

Girls Who Code is a nonprofit that runs after‑school Clubs and a Summer Immersion Program to close the gender gap in technology. As the program scaled across 25 states, GWC struggled with manual, spreadsheet‑based processes for planning, scheduling and approving volunteer‑run Clubs, which made launching and managing programs time‑consuming and error prone.

A pro bono Salesforce team used the Nonprofit Starter Pack and App Cloud to build a unified platform in under six weeks: an online intake and approval channel for Club leaders, automated confirmations and launch instructions, a student enrollment web form that captures parental consent, and a secure integration with the LMS that creates student records and assigns courses. The result is end‑to‑end Club management, elimination of manual spreadsheet updates, faster launches and more secure, centralized data — enabled by 1,300+ volunteer hours and a $100K grant.
