Pencils of Promise Increases Impact with Salesforce

Pencils of Promise is a nonprofit that builds schools and education programs in underserved communities worldwide. In Guatemala—where literacy is low and many children don’t finish primary school—the tiny community of Concepción Ixtacapa was teaching its 106 students in makeshift, open-air classrooms that were unsafe and distracting, limiting access to quality education.

Using Salesforce.org’s 1-1-1 model, Pencils of Promise combined Salesforce technology (Sales Cloud, Salesforce1 Platform and apps, Nonprofit Starter Pack), pro bono volunteer support and a $25,000 grant to fund and implement a new school build. The result: three brand-new, four-walled classrooms that provide a safe, secure learning environment for the 106 local students, extending the organization’s broader impact across its 120 communities.
