A Salesforce for Nonprofits Case Study
Oregon State University’s College of Business (OSU COB) faced fragmented, manual processes—spreadsheets, sticky notes, and multiple Access databases—that made it difficult to track students, alumni, and faculty, meet accreditation requirements, and provide timely advising and support. The college needed a sustainable way to manage the full student lifecycle and capture evidence of student learning and faculty productivity.
By adopting Salesforce App Cloud, OSU COB centralized data, automated reporting, and created portals for students to access registration PINs, internships, and cases. The STAR program uses Salesforce reports and cases to identify and support at‑risk students, advisors track progress term to term, and students contribute to development and testing. The result: faster registration, better advising, comprehensive accreditation data, stronger student support, and plans to expand Salesforce into accounting, scheduling, procurement, scholarships, and faculty collaboration.
