Mama Cash optimizes ‘grantmaking’ program with Salesforce

Mama Cash, founded in the Netherlands in 1983, is the world’s oldest international women’s fund, supporting grassroots activism for women’s, girls’ and transgender rights. Grantmaking is central to its work, with Letters of Interest (LOIs) submitted from around the globe, but the organization struggled with multiple systems that lacked the flexibility and visibility needed to track LOIs, monitor stages (received, rejected, pending), ensure accountability and handle sensitive grantee information.

By implementing Salesforce (Sales Cloud) to register and process every LOI, Mama Cash gained clear, real-time visibility into application stages, improved workflow oversight, and met compliance deadlines such as SEPA. The platform also strengthened data security and opened possibilities to connect grantees in a safe community space; these improvements helped the fund manage its 2013 support—118 groups with €4.3 million—and better evaluate and share the outcomes of its grantmaking.
