Kenyan Farmers Sow the Seeds of Success with Salesforce

Juhudi Kilimo is a Kenyan nonprofit that provides affordable financing to smallholder farmers and rural enterprises, helping people in remote areas turn subsistence farming into sustainable businesses. Facing limited resources, poor access to formal credit for most farmers, and the need to operate at high volume with low interest rates, the organization needed a way to reach more clients efficiently across dispersed communities.

By deploying Sales Cloud and the Salesforce1 Mobile App with tablets, Juhudi Kilimo digitized its Farmers Lead Management and loan processes, enabling staff to capture data in the field, extend outreach up to 100 km, and automate repayments into the general ledger. The result: conversion rates doubled, the group adds up to 60 new farms per week, processes more than 1,000 transactions daily across 15,000 farms, and has delivered over US$17 million to 30,000 farmers—while cutting overhead, improving financial visibility, and attracting talent.
