Gillette, a Procter & Gamble division with a long partnership with United Way, faced challenges making its philanthropy efforts visible and inclusive for all employees. A 15-person campaign team ran many office-based giving and volunteer activities, but progress tracking (like a cafeteria thermometer) didn’t reach remote workers, volunteer logging was cumbersome, and campaign edits required third-party requests.
In October 2020 Gillette launched Philanthropy Cloud, giving the CSR team direct control to publish and update campaigns, centralize volunteer sign‑ups and hours, and offer both virtual and in‑person opportunities. The platform boosted engagement and transparency—average gifts rose 20%, volunteering increased 5%, IT help requests fell, and employees across locations could see real‑time impact and more easily participate.
