A Salesforce for Nonprofits Case Study
Delete Blood Cancer DKMS, founded in 1991 after Peter Harf’s family experienced the desperate need for bone marrow matches, recruits donors worldwide to help patients with blood cancers. Having grown to more than 3.7 million registered donors and expanded to the U.S. in 2004, the organization still faced the challenge of finding and supporting thousands of U.S. patients who lacked connections to potential donors and faced long odds of finding matches.
To meet that need, Delete Blood Cancer DKMS adopted Salesforce Radian6 to monitor social media for posts about leukemia and blood cancer, enabling staff to identify and reach out to patients and families who previously weren’t on their radar. This real‑time outreach has expanded their ability to connect patients with the donor registry, and DKMS measures success by transplants enabled and, ultimately, lives saved as the primary return on investment.
