Creating a Robust Community of Care for BPS Students

Boston Partners in Education is a nonprofit that recruits and trains community volunteers to provide one-on-one and small-group academic mentoring for nearly 4,000 Boston Public Schools students across 50+ schools. With a 16-person staff, the organization was hampered by a patchwork of clunky systems that produced poor data quality, made mentor–student matching and progress reporting difficult, and limited communication with teachers, volunteers, and donors.

By consolidating fundraising, volunteer management, and program data on Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud) and leveraging AppExchange tools such as FormAssembly and GetFeedback, Boston Partners implemented editable online nomination and application forms, centralized records, and survey-based evaluation. The result was faster, more accurate mentor placements, better program measurement, clearer donor/volunteer lifecycle visibility, and improved real-time communication and transparency with schools and supporters.
