Case Study: Compassion International scales global sponsorship and digitizes child-sponsor communications with Salesforce for Nonprofits

A Salesforce for Nonprofits Case Study

Preview of the Compassion International Case Study

Compassion International Makes Connections Across the World with Salesforce

Compassion International is a global nonprofit that connects sponsors with children in need through nearly 7,000 church partners and more than 1.7 million sponsored children. As the organization expanded across 39+ countries and 24 languages, legacy systems and over 800 stovepiped applications created delays and operational strain—handling 10–20 million paper letters a year and sometimes taking months to deliver critical communications between children and sponsors.

Compassion implemented two integrated Salesforce orgs (using Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Community Cloud) — a CRM for sponsors and a partner community/case-management app for church partners — with a single data structure and translation tools. The solution digitized and automated communications (cutting letter turnaround from months to days or minutes), retired hundreds of applications, improved real-time visibility into child progress, and created a scalable platform being extended to the majority of its partner churches (implemented with Deloitte).
