Citizen Schools Sustainable fundraising supports mission success

Citizen Schools is a Boston-based nonprofit working to close the opportunity gap for middle schoolers, serving 30 schools, 3,500 young people and 2,000 volunteers nationally. Although a long-time Salesforce partner, CS struggled to turn abundant program, volunteer and donor data into actionable next steps: dashboards were overly complex and snapshot-focused, and activity tracking lacked consistent context and repeatable workflows.

Using Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack, CS simplified dashboards to surface goals and actions, then implemented Engagement Plans (with staged tasks and Process Builder automation) to standardize activity tracking. The changes shortened the time between identifying and securing gifts, improved focus, collaboration and accountability across distributed teams, and created consistent, replicable fundraising practices that the organization continues to iterate and automate.
