A Salesforce for Nonprofits Case Study
Cincinnati Works is an Ohio-based nonprofit that helps people move out of poverty through employment, offering lifetime coaching in areas like job readiness, legal advocacy, childcare and financial education. Despite collecting large volumes of outcome-focused data, the organization struggled with fragmented systems (and even Post‑it notes), making it difficult and time-consuming to get a complete picture of members, programs and donor activity.
In 2009 Cincinnati Works implemented Salesforce’s Nonprofit Success Pack to unify donor and program data into a single platform with constituent and employability profiles, customizable service plans, and Reports & Dashboards. The result is greater operational visibility and individualized pathways for members, improved outcomes (70% of members remain employed at least one year; 75% show gains in income/net worth/credit), expansion into more locations and employer partnerships, support for over 8,000 people, and an estimated $35 million economic impact.
